Entrance doors are given an insulation (U) value, which is a measurement of the rate that heat can pass through it. The lower the U rating, the more insulated the door is.
New replacement front doors must not exceed a U rating of 1.4, and with the upcoming Future Home Standard 2025, this is likely to change to a maximum U value of 1.
Thankfully, entrance door manufacturers now offer an affordable range of high insulation doors with a U rating below 1.
